Biography
William Robinson was born in St. Dunstans, Canterbury, Co.Kent, England. He was killed in a watermill accident in Dorcehester.MA. Came to Dorchester in 1638 from England. He returened to England in 1644, and came back in 1645. They settled in Dorchester, Mass. about 1638. he was a member of the Dorchester Church on 4 Nov. 1639. He was a freeman 18 May 1642.
Was a member of the Anchient & Honorable Artillery Co. of Boston in 1643.
On 20 March 1651 he purchased 5 acres of land near Nrponsit River from John Phillips for 150 pounds, including 8 acres that Phillips bought from William Blake, also 14 acres adjoining; also a tract of 32 acres 'great lot acres', with 3 divisions ^0acres), in the 'cow walk', and 2 acres bought from John Farman (Suffolk Deeds, Liber 1 pp 186-187.
Served as town assessor, town constable, and owned the Tilestone tide mill. He was killed, according to the diary of Rev. John Eliot in Roxbury Church Records, by being drawn through by ye cog wheel of his mill and was torn in pieces and slain. He lived in Dorchester at the time of his death.
